going wild

Bec / 14/11/2012

Currently in Puerto Madryn, gearing up for the next 3 days full of excursions to see southern right whales, sea elephants, sea lions, penguin colonies and then go snorkelling with sea lions. I’m hoping that I’m as lucky as previous snorkelinos as from the photos I’ve seen, it looks like a fair chance they like a hug…and I’m staying in a hostel for the first time in a long time…cue going feral with all kinds of wildlife – human and animal – for the next couple of weeks!!

Argentina beers are too big for Australian coolers

Oh, and the flight in deserved applause upon landing – that’s a new experience. I guess when the land is as flat as road kill there’s not a lot to stop the wind coming roaring off the Atlantic.

Today included a walk on the beach – not a patch on Marcoola of course – not that I could have swum for all the crabs – not the kind you can catch if you’re not careful 😉 – they were washed up all along the shoreline, must have been 5 different species at least…should make snorkeling interesting…not to mention a little nippy! Agua es muy frio!

    1. Frigid! Eg. to go snorkeling I had a two part wetsuit, hood, gloves, booties and spray jacket…and it still took a good 15 mins for the tingling in my fingers to stop once I got back onto dry land. Frostbite must have been setting in 😉

  1. Bec,
That’s really interesting, washed up crabs, upload a picture if you can. Is this part of an intrepid tour? Upload that picture please please!
