The packing dilemma has gone into full swing. I’m going to be traveling from the bottom of the world, through the middle and up to the top then back down again.
Temperatures will range between at least -50 degrees C with snow and wind chill up to +30 degrees C with high humidity.
Am I the only one who has NO idea how to pack for that?
Don’t bother packing for the cold. You REALLY don’t have anything that will do the trick, so you’d just be wasting space. We will bring enough to the airport (along with the rum), and have all the necessary cold weather stuff to survive the great white north!
All of the above sounds great…when faced with a problem, free your mind and think creatively….you are great at that Bec…the possibilities will be endless….like the fantastic journey you are taking. Remember we are there with you all the way, smiling with pride and gratitude to you for allowing us to be part of your life. *
Only take what is easy to carry- and perhaps a good quality ( goose or feather down, rainproof, light weight) coat for the cold. You can buy what you need for climate changes as you go and discard the other. It’s easy to get sick of your clothes, so don’t spend a fortune on them!
It depends on how quickly you’ll be moving through the different climates. Rather than packing too much stuff can you buy locally (generally cheaper depending where you are) and supplement a middle of the range set of clothes?
Then hand them off to charity as you move into the next region unless you really fall in love with something then send it home via post 🙂
Duly noted, makes sense, thank you. I’m packing layers and then just stealing from family in Canada since I’ll be going from the beach in Rio at +30-35 degrees C to the deep white north at -30 – -35 degrees C in the space of one day. Have told them to meet me at the airport with all the warm clothes they have and a bottle of rum – I’m using the St Bernard defence 😉
