As with all great destinations, their charm is usually half to do with the hard slog to reach them. As such, moving on from Roatán Island bound for Granada meant a two-day ferry and bus journey broken up by an overnight stay in less than salubrious surroundings in Comayagua.
I think though it’s the times when the environment isn’t so diverting that we spend more time focussing our attention on the people with us. We hit the supermarket and organized to group together to pack lunches for the next day, spent time in each other’s rooms talking and bonding while using rudimentary tools to make sandwiches and caring for those of us not feeling so well after a full day on the road. Nothing like a cell block for a room to bring people together. For me personally, it was the starting point of an experience I’ll never forget, full of new discoveries, ideas and perspectives on life that continued until San Jose, Costa Rica. I learned a lot about myself and others by spending quality time in the company of a beautiful soul. Thank you JP xo.
Sometimes life really sucks. Sometimes it’s magnificent beyond measure. And it’s all worth it.
